Winter Is Finally Here!

After a warm Texas winter, we finally have evidence of the season. It iced! No snow, but our road, driveway, deck, and yard are covered in crunchy white ice. Most everything is closed, but of course, the hospitals do not take "ice days," so Dr. Youree braved the route and is working. And it's hard to "call in" for my job since I work in the backyard. So, I'm working too!

But no worries, we will not suffer in the cold too long. The 60s are soon to arrive.

January is here and passing too quickly. I can hardly believe it is already the 22nd! (By the way, Happy Birthday Amelia.)

Bryan and I have successfully recovered from the holidays. I've enjoyed all those post-Christmas sales--probably a little too much! We are beginning to mull over and plan for the year. Will any graduate doors open for me? Career opportunities are knocking for both of us. And we're saving, saving for the house addition we may, emphasis on may, start at the end of the year. Whew--that's a LOT to think about!

Although it sounds sort of old lady, I gotta tell you about the weather. (Smile.) All winter we have had small bursts of cold weather--for three or four days, then it warms up. For instance, today's high is 80+, but by Saturday, it will on be 40ish. I actually have tulips with buds about to bloom . . . . amazing.

With the new year, we are also starting to hear a new phrase around: "lay-off." It seems the DFW area is just now beginning to feel economic pangs. I hope and pray we do not feel them unemployment tsunami too strongly before a turn around occurs. Guess time will only tell . . .
Keep in touch. Let us know how your year is starting out . . . .
