A visitation will be held on October 16, Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 for friends and family to pay respects at Cooke Mortuary, 220 Highway 61 East, Maynardville, Tennessee.
The following day on October 17--which is my mother's birthday no less--the memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m at Cooke Mortuary as well, followed by a graveside burial.
For my sweet, dear friends who've asked how they could express condolences, please consider contributing to Gideons International in lieu of flowers. My mother regularly contributed to the Gideons, especially when expressing her condolences to others. I would be so touched to know my mother's memory was honored in such a way.

A News Piece
The link below is to a news story on my mother. The write-up has one fact incorrect. She was not found in the bedroom. She was in the kitchen, but the officers accessed the house through a bedroom window because the doors were locked (and likely hot).

No Funeral Date Yet Set
Friends, thank you heaps and bounds for the many sweet comforting and encouraging emails, posts, calls, and texts. It is medicine to my soul.
Many have asked about funeral arrangements. My siblings and I are working on that, but have logistics to sort through. At this point, a funeral date cannot be determined. But we will let everyone know just as soon as we know. Promise.

What I Know
It's not much.
Sometime yesterday after 11:00 a.m. mom started cooking chicken in the kitchen. And a some point, a grease fire likely--not confirmed, but likely--commenced. Since all the doors and windows were shut, the grease fire did not spread but burnt out before authorities arrived at the house.
A neighbor got mom's mail for her and was taking it to the door when she didn't get an answer and saw condensation on the window. There's conflicting reports about smelling smoke. She called authorities.
Two men entered the house and found mom in the kitchen and brought her to the yard to resuscitate her, but she had already passed.
Her body is now in Little Rock for an autopsy. We are waiting for more information from them to determine when funeral arrangements will be made.

Wilma Deanna Baker White: 10-17-43 / 10-10-12
Just one hour ago, I learned my mother passed away today. My brother's quick voice mail message informed me of her death. At this moment, I barely know any of the details. The news alone was enough to paralyze me for today.
In fact, I haven't even talked to my siblings yet because I don't quite have the emotional energy to talk. But I am compelled to write because that is the way God wired me to process. So I'm writing. And processing.
And hoping you will pray for me.

Little Reader
After putting away some laundry, I entered Anna's room to find the following. Warmed my heart.
We've found her reading by herself more and more. She's also reading to her babies. I wish you could see the look of pride on her face.

Shenanigans
I've been sorting through some of Anna's summer clothes, making way for cooler weather. The warm-weather goods were placed in my closet. This evening, all of a sudden, she comes out of my room like this:
It seems she fancied these bloomers and tried to put them on herself. Of course, she wouldn't be still for me to get a good shot. But this "in action" shot is more representative of her anyway.
Always trying to climb:
I helped her get the bloomers on correctly. Then it was just plain silliness from there.
Next, she decided she wanted to wear the matching dress:
That didn't last long. Too hot!
The bloomers were a keeper, though.
Finally, we went wild with stickers.
In other news (along these shenanigans lines), we haven't officially started potty training, although she will sit on the potty a couple times a day. Last night, she was sitting on the potty while I filled her bath. As soon as I put her in the water, guess what? She peed! Agh! And last weekend, Bryan walks into her room after nap time. He immediately thinks, "It stinks in here." Then he notices she's not wearing a diaper. She looks up and says "Uh-oh." He yells for help. Little Miss had removed her dirty diaper and spread its contents around the crib. Lord, help us.
